For those who have had trouble getting Darkwing Duck... (Updated)
Good News!!! If you're in the US and your shop was sold out of DW#1, Diamond and Boom are now taking reorders. So head to your local comic shop and demand your duck! And while you there, demand a couple of Jolly Ranchers. The grape ones.
And even better news for our international fans, Boom is now offering an international subscription for the first 8 issues. You pay shipping on the first issue and the rest will be shipped free of charge for the rest of your subscription. Who needs the World Cup when you can have the Masked Mallard delivered right to your door. Click here for details.
And if your quest to find issue one wasn't enough, I just got word that issue 2 will be out July 21st, Just in time for Comic Con. Or if you're not going, just in time for wednesday Taco Bell night. Either way, it's a win.

That's great news!
ReplyDeleteThe only issue is that for international (France in my case), this amounts to 115.99$...and that's a lot, even for 8 issues. (that makes 14.5$ by issue instead of 4$...)
I understand that shipping is not free, but that's still a lot. I think I will buy it because that's the only solution and because I hope this will lead to more Disney Afternoon comics (TaleSpin especially!) so I want to support you. But I think most people who live in foreign countries will turn away from the offer.
That is good news. So far Boom seems to be pretty good about making more of particular issues available if there is a demand for them. I haven't checked here yet (no time between family and work, yes, sad I know). However, my wife was actually excited about this title for our daughter, who really enjoys DW.
ReplyDelete@steet: I know that we no longer have the option of shipping surface, which was a far less expensive option, and that international air for us has shot upward in the last few years. But a $10.50 premium?? That seems a bit excessive.
I just checked the USPS (United States Postal Service) site and, if a large envelope with comic inside, weighs 4 ounces (105 g approx. and a guess on my part) then postage is $3.76 (exactly four times the current basic airmail rate of 98 cents per ounce). So it would appear that Boom is asking for an additional $6.75 for putting it in an envelope, filling out any documentation required - if any - and putting it into the international mail for you. Go figure.
Great news! I've had no luck being able to get it from my local comic book store here in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada :(
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to the sour apple Jolly Ranchers, m'self. Great news about DWD #2 coming out sooner! SO EXCITED.
