Home at last (for now)

...Aaaaaand we're back.

Wondercon 2011 is in the bag and now it's time to get back to drawin' ducks. But here's a few of the sketch highlights from the weekend.

As you may know I share booth space with my partner in crime and starchy foods, Amy Mebberson. We actually teamed up on a few sketches here and there. Scarlett Jessica and Roger Vision seemed appropriate.

The mashups spiraled downhill from there with M.O.D.U.K.

Harley Minnie

World's ...Um, Finest?

Longtime follower Rachel Faraday requested Nega-Ash. I think I did 3 more after this.

Zatanna DeSpell

Make up an Avengers theme song to the tune of the Mickey Mouse Club

Launchpad Hulk

"Duck sense tingling..."

Monster requests were coming in as well. The only instructions here were "Dragon, Viper, Cobra"

In celebration of IDW's great new "Godzilla" Comic by Eric Powell and Phil Hester

...And to a lesser extent...

My big regret of the weekend turned out to be missing the masquerade where I could have cheered on this...

But the real high light of the trip came the monday after the con. My loving wife arranged for lunch and a tour at Skywalker Ranch. Big thanks to Michelle Scott and Lucasfilm Animation's David Meyers for the tour and infinite patience while I had the biggest geek-out of my life.

Now I couldn't take pictures of the inside where all the cool stuff was. I did get a shot of me and the green guy outside of the main animation building where they are currently working on season 4 of "The Clone Wars."

The land that the ranch encompasses is amazing. Beautiful rolling hills as far as the eye can see. And they all belong to George. The film business must be good.

This is the main house where the flanneled one lives. It also houses the book and film library. Plus where else can you find a foyer that contains the headpiece to the staff of Ra, an Imperial Walker and a piece of the space shuttle.

See ya next week with more nonsense

  1. I'm not sure what the Nega-ash is a parody of, but the others are great!

The visit to Skywalker ranch must have been a geek-like-you's dream come true. I'm glad you could geek out like fans of your work do every time we turn the page!
